Cross with Words

Hi guys. Today  I have a "favourite of the year" card to show off. I created this card for my brother and I'm absolutely thrilled with how it turned out!!! A friend of mine had offered the embossing folder to me before, but I thought the embossing was too big for my cards,so I never tried it. Then I decided I wanted a big cross on my brother's card (it's for his baptism)...and decided to give the embossing folder a try....

the folder itself  is 5.75"x4.25" which is the exact size of my cards...and I really didn't want to make my cards any larger...but I cut out the cross...and it became just-JUST small enough to fit onto my card! WHEW!!!

and now I'm such a big fan. I'm getting one of those for myself -- I love it!

So anyways, enough with the ramblings -- here's the card.

I used dimensional foam behind the cross to lift it a bit...as well as behind the dove image (which is a Stampin Up stamp btw).

For My Mom with Hearts

Hi guys. I have another card to share. I finally got time to make my card for my mom for Mother's day. It was a little out of my comfort zone cause it's not as CAS as my usual cards, but I'm loving it more everytime I look at it. Hopefully my mom will like it as well. :)


A friend of mine sent me this word art she made a few years ago. I loved the sentiment, but didn't like the wordart the way she had created it. So I created my own sentiment using the quote she had sent me.

I wanted to incorporate hearts into the card, so I punched a border with the Fiskars Heart border punch. I added bling to accent the hearts. I love love love it!!! :)

I created the flower myself -- using four different punches. And of course I added a butterfly...just cause butterflies are always sweet. :)

Paint Chips for a Card

Let's think outside the box for a moment. Paint Chips... who says they're just to look at? Why not USE them instead of throwing them away??? Recycle!!! :)

So that's what I did...after all, it's perfectly good paper going to waste otherwise....

I simply cut out some squares with three of the coordinating greens...

stamped an image on them...

and created a card...

I absolutely love it!!! Paint Chips have taken on a whole new meaning with me!!! :)

Masculine Tree

Over at the Simon Says blog they're having a Masculine card challenge. We all know just how difficult masculine cards can be to create (adding flowers, bows, and using colorful and femine paper is so much easier!) ...

...but I'm getting better at these masculine cards. It's a learning curve...

Today's card features another stamp from the "Thoughts and Prayers" stamp set by Stampin' Up. I absolutely love trees on masculine cards -- there's something about trees...

Sometimes the cards turn out to be monochromatic...when you truly didn't intend to create one! But shades of brown are so fun to work with...and calming... (I LOVE BROWNS!)

The border punch is one of my favorite by Martha Stewart. The ribbon is from Simon Says store (I think)...and of course some pearls. :) You gotta love bling...of any kind! :)

God Be With You

Hi guys. I'm back to showcase another card.

Today I used some designer paper on my card, which is actually a challenge for me. I tend to stick with just textured cardstock or using embossing folders. but why not go out of your comfort zone ever so often?

I stamped a flower stamp from Stampin' Up and cut it out. Punched out a few leaves and lifted them a bit with some foam to give the card a bit of dimension. I wanted the sentiment to take the focal point of the card, 'cause it's a beautiful stamp. It turned out great -- and it was done in less than 10 mins! LOL

For Mother

Hi guys. I know it's long past Mother's Day...but I didn't get around to show casing my card then...so I figured now is as good a time as ever. :)

My card features a Flourishes stamp called "Forget Me Not Notes". I love this stamp set -- especially the big bouquet image. Since my mom is big into flowers, I figured the stamp fit perfectly. :)

I colored the stamped image with alcohol markers. I think I'm hooked now!!! I love love love images on cards...and now I'm also big into coloring images. I think I've discovered a whole new world of cardmaking!!! :)

I want to give a shout out to Silke over at My Life. I love her cards...and this card is big-time inspired by her cards. ...with a few little differences to make it my own. :)

Using my Martha Stewart Score Board I embossed some lines across the top of my card's "white space" ...to give it some detail. Then I added some beautiful ribbon (love the fact that it has hearts on there!) and tied it all off with a bow.

White Elegance

It's that time of year again -- wedding season. It's in full-swing right now -- lots of friends and acquaintances getting married this year! I was running short on cards for Weddings, so I set out to make some.

Right now, when it comes to Wedding cards I think of soft pastels and lots of white. White sound boring to you??? Well, I do mean Cuttlebug the white cardstock so there's lots of texture on the card! LOL Can't have the cards boring -- Cuttlebugging adds so much elegance! :)

Here's one of my latest creations.

As I mentioned, I used my Cuttlebug on the white cardstock. There are two different border embossing folders used here -- I figured, variety -- it IS after all, "the spice of life!" :) The set is called "Just my Type". It features five different folders -- I used two of them.

The rest of it is pretty basic. Borrowed the beautiful sentiment stamp from a fellow crafter...and added some punched butterflies. (If you know me, you know I love butterflies -- and they fit soooooo perfectly with a wedding theme. :)

Birthday Masculine

Hi guys. Today I have a masculine birthday card to share. Masculine cards, in general, seem to be everyone's most challenging cards to create. I find little boys' cards to be pretty simple, cause you can add a cute animal image and it works. But when you start making cards for adults, it gets a lot harder. Especially when you try a card without a coloured image (which isn't really my style in the first place).

So when I set out to make masculine cards (for older guys)...I like to keep them Clean and Simple for starters. I often look if I can find a sketch online to use, which I did in this case. And when I finally do find something that turns out really really really well, well I mass  produce! :p LOL Different colours, different stamps, etc.  -- but a great sketch is dying to be mass produced! And when it comes to masculine cards -- a GREAT card is hard to come by, so why not?!!!

On to my card:

The cardstock is from a Michael's pack. The border is from a Colorbok paper pack I won awhile back. I love all shades of brown and this Paper pack was my favourite from Colorbok so far! Beautiful papers!!! (I only have scraps left, but that was perfect for this card, as all I needed was a scrap). :) The square stamp is from the Dollarama -- I haven't found a whole lot of uses for it yet, but I do love it for Masculine cards. And finally the two sentiments are from the Upsy Daisy stampset I borrowed from a friend.

I love how all these different products work together. :) And yes, I am definitely mass producing this card!! I love it! :)

My Card for Mom

Hi guys. Today I want to show you my first-ever all white card. I must admit, making this card was a slow process for me -- mostly because of the ribbon. The rest of the card came together so nicely, but when it was time to tie off the ribbon and create a bow, I found I had a BIG problem on my hands.

I think I won this ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon. It's absolutely gorgeous ribbon -- sheer, with a sparkle to it that really shows off the ribbon well , even when it's on an all white card. I had an idea in mind of what the bow should look like but no matter what I tried, I just couldn't get it right.

Now I know I have a few ribbon tying tutorials (#1, #2 & #3) on my blog's righ-sidebar, but those ribbons weren't 1" wide. It does get more complicated with wider ribbons, that's for sure. So I went on www.youtube.com and tried to find easy bow making tricks. And yes, there are some great ones out there -- like the Bow Maker, which is awesome! You can improvise and make your own version of the Bow Maker with just a few supplies (that are probably lying on your crafting table right now)...but my bow still didn't turn out like I'd envisioned. (this card is for my mom, so it had to be Perfect -- or as close to perfect as I could get it!)

So I asked the expert (in my opinion) -- Jacque. Her cards always have the most beautiful bows -- no matter what size or the width of the ribbons. She gets it right every time! She told me she uses a tool called the Bow Easy, not the Bow Maker. Jacque -- you're the best! :) Thanks for all the help with this. :) It truly does make a difference.

So anyways, enough about the ribbon...moving on to my card.

First off, I just have to add that I used a sketch I found online. Something about it make me think that it would look good as an all-white card, so I decided to give it a try. It's something I've been wanting to do forever, but just never really had a clue how to get started. After this one, (despite the length of time I had to put into it) I'll definitely be making more -- now I know all the "not to do's!" LOL

A friend of mine made the word art that I used for my sentiment. It's a lovely quote by Julia Summers -- perfect for a Mother's Day card. :)

I used my Cuttlebug to add the texture to the background paper. The folder is called "Victorian" -- it's one of the more elegant folders I've seen...and I love it! I cut the Spellbinder on a Cuttlebug (dies are definitely awesome!) and blinged it up with tiny white bling from the Dollarama. Finally I added some recently won white Pearls (from RRR) to my corners just so they wouldnt' be so bare. I must say, I am now officially hooked on the pearls! Like wow! I love bling, but these pearls look amazing! I especially love the extra tiny ones -- they add an elegance. :) Love love love! :)

And of course I finished my card off with a bow. Tied with a Bow Easy -- and looks just like I'd envisioned it from the start. :D

Hi guys. Today I want to show you a card gift set I made. I wanted to make something for a friend of mine's birthday...and I thought a set of blank cards is always a nice gift to get, so why not? :) I hope she likes them. :)

They are very plain and simple. Basically I used one of the ribbons from the spring collection from Really Reasonable Ribbons...and used some metal embellishments and some bling to spice them up a bit.

I must say, I find adding the charms a bit of a challenge (mostly 'cause I don't use a whole lot of bows on my projects). but I love this simple way of adding the charms to the ribbons...so I tried it here....

hi guys. I've been having fun stamping the last few days...and my inked fingers are a good indication that I actually got things done! :)

I borrowed a stamp set from a friend, and went to work on some sketches I've been wanting to try, but didn't have a big enough silhouette image to use. It was so much fun! (I was still stamping at 10pm last night!!!) :p But that's just me -- when I get started, I have to finish the project -- can't leave it unfinished. Especially when I have some mojo flowing! :)

Here's the card.

It's a Clean and Simple look -- 'cause I just LOVE that look! :) simplicity has always worked best for me.

I double stamped the image -- first with a greyish/black ink and then with a dark black ink. It definitely gives it a cool effect. Reminds me of a shadow. :)
