Bold and Bright Birthday

Hi guys. Today's card took me out of my comfort zone. I have a lot of pattern papers in my stash, but I find myself reaching for cardstock and my Cuttlebug folders for backgrounds instead of using the papers!!!! Yeah, just hoard the patterned paper forever!!!! :p

So I challenged myself to use some patterned paper for a card.

I absolutely love this paper line -- very brilliant and bold!

I also reused some flowers from a card I had received. I find it very difficult to throw out any cards I receive ....but there's just too many....and so I have started taking embellishments off the cards, so I can at least reuse them a bit...and not throw everything away.

So the flowers are from a completely different collection, but the colors fit together nicely, I think.

Of course I also added lots of bling...cause I love to make my cards sparkle! :)

Challenge complete! I love everything about this card! :) I'm happy....and gonna be making more cards with this patterned paper for sure! Super easy...and pretty. :)

Whew! That's quite a list of bloggers, eh??? Now on to my creation.

It's springtime! I love this time of the year! Despite all the rain and mud...it's one of my favorite seasons. I love the first spring shower....the feeling I get when I see the first rainbow of the year...or smell the freshness of the air. And of course, best of all, the flowers start to bud. That's enough to put a smile on anyone's face. :)

With that in mind, I put together a card that represents "springtime" to me.

Yes, there's lots and lots of layers! :)

This card was so much fun! I made the "pot" myself -- inked the edges to make them stand out more. Then used some very old pre-punched flowers (from the Dollarama, which is an awesome dollar store here in Canada). The leaves are punched with a Fiskars mini punch...which I hadn't really found a purpose for before. Glad to finally find a way to use it! :)

Of course I Cuttlebugged the background papers:
"Distressed Strips" folder for the white paper and the "Swirls" folder for the yellow).

The borders along the sides were punched with the Fiskars "Effervescence" border punch. And finally, the buttons and bling were in my stash. :)
So that's my "spring" card. Now hop on over to Cindy's Blog to see what wonderful project she has to show. Enjoy the rest of the hop. :)

Chromatic Blue

Hi guys! No, I haven't forgotten about my blog. I've just been busy with sewing and other things around the house. Sometimes it's hard to find time to sit down and write a blog. :p

But here's a look-see at a card I made awhile ago. I found these wonderful sentiments online...and really wanted to try using them. This sketch seemed like the perfect time to do so. I started out sewing with the sewing machine, but I have yet to master that! It didn't look good -- it's soooooooooo challenging to sew on paper!!!! I don't get it!!! :( Any pointers, anyone???

I ended up starting over again -- and made faux stitches instead. It works, but I'm definitely gonna try working on getting the sewing machine to work with me! TFL :)

Gotta think outside the box!

My printer is still out!!! UGH!!! And unfortunately there's not a whole lot I actually do without it!!! I'm constantly printing one thing or another for both my cards...and my layouts as well!!!

So I had to find other means...to get some scrappin' done!

My sister found a great stamp set while garage sale-ing last week. And yes, she bought it just for me -- sometimes it's really nice to be the only one in the family that actually scraps and stuff!!! LOL Everyone is constantly thinking of me when it comes to the good stuff!!! :)

So, my sister brings home a "Stampin' Up!" baby stamp set.  Man, was I impressed!!!

I've had a baby picture of my best friend's baby on my "to scrap" pile for a long time. And after trying to make the printer work for like 2 + hours this afternoon, I finally just gave up on it...and decided to try something new.

I stamped the "quote" from my new stamp set...and embossed it with gold embossing powder.

....then I copied and cut out some letters...and lifted them...to give them a 2D look...

I also bought some more fabulous rub-ons yesterday, and found a few that fit...

Finally I added some punched flowers I made with my Fiskars daisy punch...and some buttons I won in a blog candy. :) The layout is still missing the birthdate, weight and length...but that'll have to wait for the printere! I'm thinking of writing it in brown...along the left-side of the photo -- strip journaling style.

It's amazing what you can do without a printer!!! TFL :)

Layout Sketch

It's frustrating when you can't find stuff!!! UGH! I know I had this layout sketch somewhere in my computer...but now when I want to post it, I can't find it!!! :( I guess you'll just have to take my word for it -- and try to figure the sketch out from what I created -- although I think I added the strip journaling, which wasn't a part of the original sketch. :)

I just love rub-ons! During a recent Dollarama stop, I found some big/beautiful rub-ons! They're so much fun to use -- and they are a simple way to make a page stand out! Plus, they're coloured, which is like a huge bonus with me! :)

The layout has quickly become a favourite for me. :) I love the colous and the playfulness it reminds me of. What a blast we had! :) TFL.
