Scrappy Butterflies

Butterflies. There's just something special about them. They're beautiful. Peaceful. Elegant. They represent a freedom to me. So when I get a chance to add a butterfly (of any kind) to a scrapbook layout or a card I go for it. ...which is why my cleaning-out-the-scraps card turned out to have so many butterflies on it. :D Yup, stamping them on wasn't good enough -- so I added a few punched out ones as well. Whatcha think???

Now on to my creation...

The theme for this hop is SNOWMAN/MEN. It's been one of the strangest winter's I have ever experienced. No snow (or hardly any anyways) until January...and even now there's so little on the ground it's sad! The weather too is soooooo unpredictable...lots of extra warm days and then weeks of soooooo cold you don't want to spend more than a few minutes outside! So there haven't been a lot of snowmen made this winter....

....that hasn't stopped me from creating them on paper though...at least here the sun can't get to them and melt them back to a puddle of water. :p And I'm not frozed through either........ :p

I used white cardstock with a shimmer...which I embossed with two different folders. Then I used the Fiskars Apron Lace border punch to create the border around the image. Punched out a few snowflakes...and added some bling. TFL :)

Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog is having an Anything Goes challenge. We all love those challenges right??? And this particular challenge has an amazing prize!!!

I'm still in the process of using up scraps. Had some embossed borders lying around...and the image too. Embossed some pocka-dots on some cream paper and used up scraps! :) cool cool! :)

Hi bloggers! I'm back to show off another card :) Just a question -- has anybody else in blogland been having problems when you try to upload pictures to your posts??? I've been getting errors like 90% of the time!! It's pure luck if/when a picture actually uploads!!!! :( Please blogger -- FIX IT! It's seriously getting on my nerves!!! :p

Anyways, enough about that. I have soooooo many scraps lying on my crafting table...and my scraps bin is almost full to overflowing!!! :o Guess that's what happens when you don't use up scraps for a long, long time! :p

I played around with scraps for a bit...cuttlebugged a scrap here, stamped an image there....and I had a card! Yeah! And I cleaned up a few scraps in the process!!! :) (I'm sooooooo proud of myself!) LOL

The more I look at it, the more I like it :) The colours didn't pick up very nicely -- the papers are really shades of rust/brownish...but I guess you do get the general idea. And those Fiskars "Love A Latte" Clear Stamps really should be used a whole lot more than they are! :p TFL :)

Bling and Squares

I borrowed some Fiskars punches -- the scalloped square and circle -- and I thought it would be so simple to come up with a design that I could incoorperate them into. I quickly discovered that I had a challenge on my hands, 'cause nothing I tried worked out the way I wanted. :( LOL

After a lot of tries and failures, I've finally made a card I like! Actually I love it! :) Love cards with bling...and this one has the bling as the centerpoint, which is cool! :) Gotta love bling! :)

I embossed the background and put the "wrong" side on top, which with my camra unfortunately is hard to pick up....cause the embossing doesn't pop as much as it could. White is tough to take pictures of...and have all the details come through. Hopefully you can get the idea...'cause the colouring isn't very good either. :p

First Card of 2012

Hi bloggers. Well, I've finally gotten back to my crafting table for a bit. Decided to make a fancy-fold card, just cause I always find those to be extra fun!

This fold is called a "Gate Fold" card. It's very simple, and there's so much you can do with it! If you're interested in trying one of these cards yourself, head on over to Split Coast Stampers for the tutorial. I'm sure you'll enjoy making it too!! :)

DL.Art Thankful Thursdays is having a What are you thankful for? giveaway. The prize is a $15 card to your pick of Starbucks, Michaels or Joann's. Of course I'd go for Michael's -- you can never get too many scrapping supplies...and it's one of my favourite art supply stores. :)

So the challenge is to post a picture of something you are thankful for (not a person). For me, as far as crafting goes -- I am thankful for my new Cuttlebug machine. It was a wedding present...and I absolutely love it! It makes cardmaking so much easier and the cards get an elegant look without a whole lot of extras.

Back with a bang!

I'm back!!! :D I've been doing some serious crafting the last few weeks....and I finally have some pictures taken to showcase it all. So here goes...

I've always been impressed when we got a handmade thank you card. I don't know what it is about them, but I love them. Maybe it's the extra bit of effort I always thought the person stuck into the card or something. But whatever it was, when it came to thank you cards (for my wedding gifts) I was determined I would make my own. After all, the first few weeks are kinda slow as you get situated, etc. (especially during the winter months)...and I thought I'd have lots of time anyways.

It wasn't until I counted together how many cards I actually needed to make that I understood just exactly what I was undertaking!!! 100+ cards....and I had to come up with something that I liked...and would actually want to create over 100 times!!! ...not to mention the fact that it had to be something that I would STILL like it after they were all made!!! :p

but I was determined to try...

First off, I received a CuttleBug for a wedding gift from our youth choir. :D To say I was impressed is putting it lightly....I was ECSTATIC!!!

Using the Cuttlebug Organic Border Embossing folder and the folder that had come with the Cuttlebug, I came up with a design that I absolutely love! :D

I did made a variety of colours...and two different types of butterflies....just so I wouldn't get bored from the making the same old, same old. :p The "thanks" stamp is from the Fiskars Latte Love Coffee Tear Friend clear stamp set. It was fun....but I was glad when they are all made and sitting in the box ready for the signing. :D

Hi all. :) I'm getting married next month. :) So that means I had to not only clean out my scrap table/corner...but pack it up...and fit it all into boxes!!! Get it all ready to move. And no...I was NOT looking forward to it! But after a lot of procrastinating, I finally took the time and just did it. It wasn't so complicated! LOL

Fly Away Card

Well blogland....I'm not officially back yet.... :P but I did spend a hours at my crafting table this afternoon, so I thought I'd post my creation.

A fellow cardmaker gave me her Fiskar "Fly Away" border punch to borrow....to see if I could come up with an idea of how to incorporate it into a card. While I do love the punch I actually had to give it back without even one single card to show!!!!!!!!!! It's a cute punch, but it's different. Kinda a lot wider than punches I've used in the past....I don't really know what it was about it exactly.

Today I saw the punched sheets and thought -- why not give it another try. This time it worked....and I finally have a card to show for it! LOL What'cha think??? Think it works???

It's summertime....and these days I'm much too busy doing anything and everything else to spend any time at my scrapping table. So yeah, my blog will not be updated much in the next few months....but here's a little something to showcase for now.

This is the lastest rug I made. I started out wanting to make it all blue, but I didn't like my third shade of blue, so I opted for gray instead. Everytime I show this to people....they say something like "well you're brave!". Not sure exactly what it is about this rug that makes me "brave", but okay! LOL I love it, and that's the only important part here anyways! :p

It's that time of year ago -- lots of graduations happening. And of course, we all need a card to help mark the occasion. :) My little sister is graduating this year (man I'm getting old!!!!) and she wanted some grad cards to send to fellow classmates and friends.

I borrowed a Martha Stewart border punch and the owl stamp from a friend...and set to work. This is the best punch I've used to date -- definitely the next one I'm buying for myself! I absolutely loved working with it! :) Anyways, I made a half dozen similar cards -- only different colours. And now they're all ready to be sent off! :) TFL

Grad Card using a Freebie

I found a freebie digital stamp for a graduation card on a blog recently. I don't even know when or where I found it exactly -- I simply saved it to my computer for later use. Then today I decided to get started on some graduation cards. I came across a side-step card that I liked...and wanted to lift. The button was the perfect touch!!! :)

I'm not a big fan of black & white cards...(I like colours!!) but when it comes to graduation cards, it somehow works. TFL :)

Punching it Out

When it comes to cards, I love the simplicity. Neat. Everything having it's place. No elaborate cards...although those tend to come from time to time as well. :)

So here's the latest card I made. I've had these punched flowers and butterflies lying around since Christmas -- but couldn't come up with a use for them. When I saw the latest card sketch on the card lifters group I joined, this idea popped into my head. Perfect way to use punches! :) TFL

Adorable Little Onsie

When I say I've been wanting to make a onsie baby card for like FOREVER, I really mean it! I was browsing through galleries and saw these absolutely adorable baby cards, but never got around to making them! They've always been in my "to create" list...so today I FINALLY took the time.

Turns out I've been fearing it for no reason -- 'cause they are very easy to make! Plus, they are adorable, no matter what you do with them! Any ideas you come up with work! I like to keep them simple...figured a onsie is cute all by itself -- why try to make it stuffed with embellishments trying to make it cuter??? :p LOL One card quickly became two...and then three!!! I needed baby cards to send out, so why not?? TFL :)

Hi'ya all!! :) The weather outside is back to being glorious. [we had a major blizzard on the 1st of May!!!] brought back all kinds of thoughts on winter (evil thoughts!) But the sun is shining brightly again...and the snow is [almost] gone for good!!! :) Bring on the spring!!! :)

Someone ordered 10 Easter cards! Honestly, I was a bit stressed...'cause I was running low on supplies, low on mojo (I had just completed a big order the previous day) and basically had no ideas whatsoever!!!

I love love love online galleries!!! I found a few card sketches I liked...and set to work. LOL Apparently stress makes my mojo flow!!! Who knew!! :p At the end of the day, I had a whole set of cards that I loved. You might not to able to tell, but I managed to use up scraps at the same time!!! Cuttlebug Borders

On a recent trip to the states, I told my mom to keep her eyes open for some cuttlebug borders. She brought me home this set...ORGANIC FLOURISH BORDER SET

LOL I'll admit, in the beginning I was a little clueless as to how to incorporate them into my cards, but after a few tries, I've come up with some great ideas! It's amazing what a little bling can do to make everything look even better (the borders look great to start off with). Here's a quick look as one of my cards using one of the folders from this set.

I so have to get a cuttlebug!!! Next trip to the city!!! TFL :)

Old Stamps, New Technique

Oh yeah!!! The computer is up and running...and I have so much to show off!!! :p

I won a clear stamp set a year or so ago. Basically it was the same image -- one stamped the outline only, and the second stamped the whole image. I've used it a few times, but I was never really impressed. Yesterday I saw a card in a gallery using a similar stamp set...and I set out to try the technique. It's so simple, but it looks amazing! :) I used two different colours (recommended), and stamped first the outline and then the whole image -- kind of on top of each other. Let it dry...and your stamped paper is ready to use!!! And it looks really cool!!!

I'll be reaching for this stamp set a whole lot more in the future! TFL :)

On Your Wedding Day

I saw a card online awhile back -- had a ribbon with two rings. Loved the idea from the start -- just something to give a wedding card a little something else. :)

So when the card sketch for our card lifters group turned out to be a basic rectangle with a window and a ribbon, I decided to go for it. The background is dry embossed (wedding bells) -- and I lifted the tag in the middle just a little to give the card a little more dimension. TFL :)

So yeah -- I've been having a blast playing with my grad pictures -- from way back when! :p LOL -- but at least they're finally going into a scrapbook already -- later is better than never.

Card for a Loss

Yay!!!!! I do believe blogger is back!!! :) After a few weeks of issues -- seems to be working just fine again!!! :) So I'm back to posting....

We had a card making crop with some kids a few weeks ago. Everyone brought some of their stamps and stuff -- it was a total blast, despite the fact that I actually didn't even create one single card! I just helped the little kiddies with some of the techniques like stamping and embossing. And idea here, a fold there. Honestly I'm always amazed at what those kiddies come up with -- they inspire me!!!!

And of course, I couldn't resist taking the opportunity to stamp some images onto some blank paper. I figured I would use them later on -- one way of the other. I needed a Thinking of You card for a cousin of mine who recently lost their baby girl. Honestly I was stumped...until I saw my stamped images. This card was soeasy to make -- it probably had a lot to do with the colours as well. It seemed like whatever I needed was right there -- no digging around in my stash for hours until I found something I could use... I hope this is a sign that my mojo is back! :) TFL

Hi there bloggers! Is anyone else having issues with uploading photos to their blog??? I've tried uploading my card images (they are all in jpeg format) the past two or three days, and I just get a blank image!! What is going on!!! Is it just me???

Broken Punch

Oh wow!!! I have just been inspired even more to buy Fiskar products!!! :)

I was punching some cardstock with a friend's border punch (pictured) a few weeks ago, when the handle just broke off!!! It's something I'd always been scared of happening -- and then it did!!!

I had heard that Fiskar's has a lifetime warrenty on their products -- and so I contacted them on their website. A few weeks later, a replacement punch arrived in the mail!!! How awesome is that!?! Giving my friend a new fiskars punch felt great! :)

So yah for Fiskar products!!! :) They may be expensive, but they're totally worth it! They do feature some of the best punches (especially) -- their squeeze punches are totally awesome as well -- about the easiest punches to use. So yeah -- if you're going to buy a punch, why not check out the Fiskars products. You won't be disappointed. :)

Another Sketch

I love working with sketches. Especially when I have great supplies on hand -- and lots of mojo to work with!!! :)

I've been working with a few card sketches I put together -- just favourites from different online galleries. This card is my favourite so far -- LOL -- it just might have a little to do with the colours. :p LOVE this particular shade of blue!

A friend of mine sent me a great website that has a lot of great free fonts for scrapbooking, etc. They're perfect for creating Word Arts. Here's one I created and used on my card.

Added a bunch of layers -- and some awesome dry embossing (with a friend's Cuttlebug) and the card was done! Love the simplicity of it, while at the same time that shade of blue makes it pop! :) TFL

Yeah -- I think it's time to get back to some blogging already!!! I've been working on a few other projects in the last weeks, and haven't spent a whole lot of time making cards and layouts. But I'm planning on getting back to making some cards next week -- have a whole bunch of ideas to try.

Here's a card I make for the card lifter's group I joined in Fiskateers. Basically you're given a card/sketch and everyone in the group makes a card based on the card/sketch given.

I had an idea of what I wanted to do with the sketch, but honestly it didn't turn out quite the way I had it planned, but that's okay. I did a whole bunch of layers (love love love layers!!!) and inked up the edges.

Yeah -- the card's growing on me. Maybe by the time I send it off, I'll love it! :p TFL

I won a Cosmo Cricket, "Material Girl" scrapping kit last year...and it's kind of been lying in the back of my stash. While the kit is very nice, it's not my usual style. So I figured I'd just save it and use it for showcasing sewing projects when I get around to them. LOL

The kit doesn't have any yellow or blue papers, so I had to look elsewhere. but the rest of the embellishments are all from the Material Girl kit. The chipboards are soooooooo cute!! TFL :)

Kitten Fun

My cousin's children came to visit us during the Christmas holidays. My cat had just had a litter of six kittens about a month before, and the kiddies were so excited. Here's one of my latest layouts -- just random pictures of the kiddies and the kittens. Some of these pictures are soooooo funny! The poor little kittens had to endure a lot during those two days -- especially from the youngest one! LOL

I've had this unfinished layout lying around forever now. I loved the background paper -- although I did add a different border to the center to get the colour combo I wanted. But then I was stuck, as I couldn't come up with a layout design I liked.

Lol -- I settled on a circle. It's quite interesting -- when I first started scrapping, I didn't really like circles in my layouts. I was working mostly with squares and rectangles...until one day a circle layout just came together, and I've been hooked ever since. Now, when I get stuck, the first thing that comes to mind is a circle!!! And bling -- lots of bling!!! :) TFL.

Light Tomorrow

A friend of mine gave me a new stamp for Christmas. I love this quote -- "Light tomorrow with today!".

Today I used it for the first time -- the sketch I was following had two squares on it, and I thought why not use this stamp for one of them! It worked out nicely too -- after a lot of juggling around. Sometimes card are just SOOOOOOOOOO hard to create! I need some mojo these days!!!!

This card is actually for a card lifting group I joined -- you get a card to "lift" or copy...once a week, and see what you come up with. One of the best parts is making the original card idea into something entirely your own. For the most part, it's made me think outside the box -- because soooooo often the cards we are lifting are totally not my style!!! But it keeps things interesting -- and keeps me challenged. :p

This is the latest card I made -- LOL -- about the only thing that I lifted from the original card was the half circle in the center. I love how it turned out though...

A Look Thru 2010 -- Layouts

Fancy Folding

I had a little card making sessions with one of the girls I babysit. We had a blast! :) I love crafting with other people -- simply to get ideas -- and surprisingly those little girls often have such awesome ideas!!!! Plus, it helps them to learn some new techniques -- someone's gotta teach them! And I love it, so....

Anyways, here's one of the cards I made during the session. I was working with a sketch -- and the card required the paper folds in the center. Honestly when I first saw this technique on the card I was trying to lift, I freaked out a little. It looked great -- but complicated. Until someone sent me the directions! :p And now that I've tried it, it's definitely something I'll be doing more of!!!! I love the look....and it's just plain fun!

Hi there! I found this brand new 6x6 scrapbook album in a second hand store for a few cents, and decided "why not?". I've never scrapped any pages smaller than 12x12, so it was a little new to me. But I had soooo much fun! :) I decided to go with a trip my parents took back in 2002 -- pictures that we basically looked through once (when they got home) and then stashed the cd full of pictures away. Definitely not the ideal place to put pictures - especially of a trip like that! :p So I brought them out -- printed over 160 pics, and scrapped away. :) Here's a look at my layouts.

I've always loved the look of a film strip in a scrapbook. Because these pages are 6x6 -- I was able to get the film strip effect using my Fiskar In Stitches border punch. I don't think it would work so well on big pages, 'cause then the punching would look like stitches -- but because these pages are so small, and so are the photos, it totally worked! I love this effect!!! As you will notice when looking thru the rest of the album! LOL ( I used it A LOT!!!) :p

Butterflies and Swirls

My days of making Christmas cards for this year are over and behind me. Moving on to other cards...here's one of my latest cards.

I've had the paper in my stash for a long time now - just couldn't make myself cut it up, 'cause I was gonna use it for a layout. But since that never happened, and I needed a patterned paper for this card, I decided it was time. LOL -- I'll probably end up making a whole set of similar cards and use up the whole sheet. It fits so well here!

I added some punched butterflies from my stash as well. It wasn't until someone commented on this that I realized it -- the patterned paper has swirl dotted lines on it...and I had unconscionably placed the butterflies so it looks like it's their flight pattern. Now I love the paper even more!!! :)

One of the new ideas we discussed at the kiddie crop I was at on Tuesday was Gate-Fold cards. They're very simple to make -- and there's so much you can do to change them up!

This is one I made -- again not very elaborate, but I WAS just learning! LOL My next ones are definitely gonna have more details -- although for the most part, simplicity works for me. I love the cuttlebug folder used here -- snowflakes. Fits perfectly with the whole card. :)

Another Christmas card I put together today. A friend gave me a whole package of these pre-stamped Christmas/winter images. They're soooooo cute!!!

I also had a few papers I had put through a cuttlebug yesterday -- these folders are gorgeous! I love the texture the dry embossing adds to the the cards. It somehow makes the card stand out even if it's simple.

Christmas Card Crop

So we had a mini crop with the school kiddie today. I went over to "help" -- but ended up making a few cards for myself as well!!! LOL

It was so much fun! Lots of great Christmas stamps, a cuttlebug, great punches -- including a few fiskar border punches i had never seen before, gorgeous papers...and lots of ideas. Learned a little about some new techniques to try -- one day!

Here's a look-see at one of the cards I made. Not to elaborate -- but when you're using a cuttlebug, there's not a whole lot required to the card....'cause the embossed background just adds so much!!! Now I want a cuttlebug even more!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chromatic Blue

Hi guys! No, I haven't forgotten about my blog. I've just been busy with sewing and other things around the house. Sometimes it's hard to find time to sit down and write a blog. :p

But here's a look-see at a card I made awhile ago. I found these wonderful sentiments online...and really wanted to try using them. This sketch seemed like the perfect time to do so. I started out sewing with the sewing machine, but I have yet to master that! It didn't look good -- it's soooooooooo challenging to sew on paper!!!! I don't get it!!! :( Any pointers, anyone???

I ended up starting over again -- and made faux stitches instead. It works, but I'm definitely gonna try working on getting the sewing machine to work with me! TFL :)

Beautiful Shades of Purple

I've been having fun with more "Fred, She Said" images. I love them -- especially because of the great 3-D effect you can get with bending and combining multiple images.

I created this card for a lift challenge -- also known as a sketch challenge. When I first saw the card we were to lift, I was kind of a little lost. I don't have a fancy edge border punch -- so unless I'm borrowing one from friends, I'm basically challenged to come up with ideas for edges. Then I found this template online, and I decided to give it a try. I inked up the edges so they show up more.

Finally I added my flowers and a few punched butterflies.

It's been awhile since I made a square card. This was fun!!! :) TFL

Using Some Digis

A friend of my mom's is battling cancer. It's always tough to come up with something for those type of cards, but she wanted something simple...just a "thinking of you". Here's what I came up with:

I've been using these pre-coloured digital designs from "Fred, She Said" -- I absolutely love them! These flowers were on a freebie sheet -- although they're from way back when -- so you'll have to do some digging on the blog if you want to try getting them! But it's totally worth it! :)

I bent up the top flower pedals to give the flower a 3-D look.

Also used my Fiskar "In Stitches" border punch around all the edges. TFL :)

Totally Out of My Comfort Zone

So last week we had this two sided card idea to lift on Fiskateers.com. I was impressed with the actual card, although it was totally not me!!! Talk about being out of my comfort zone!!! :( I went for it though...and after a lot of trial and error, I ended up with this:

It's not too strange, but I think I'll definitely stick to the simple fold-in-half type of cards. but I'm loving trying these new ideas and techniques -- 'cause I know I would never try them if it weren't for card lifters. :p

Here are a few details:

** The original card we lifted, actually had a lot of big tags on every page. I went with one. --- stamped and embossed it.

** I have a whole bunch of these page borders in my stash -- I'm always trying to find ways to use them in layouts and cards. This one fit nicely 'cause of the gold. :)

** Christmas trees from my stash from last year or the year before. I have so many supplies that I just don't use...because I'm always wanting to use the new stuff instead of the old!!! :p

I've been making a lot of green Christmas cards this week, but yesterday I discovered how awesome blue is for a Christmas colour. Non-traditional maybe, but it fits well with snowflakes. Here's a blue card I made today -- blue, white and red. I know -- it's a little 4th of July, but it works for me! :) Christmas shouldn't just be about the reds and the greens!!! TFL

About 5+ summers ago, one of my cousins was trying to dump garbage into our junk yard...and ended up "trashing" the garbage, the gator...and herself!!!! Yes, I have no idea how it happened...but somehow she managed. Nobody was hurt -- except the gator. It had a few dents from the tumble. My cousin though, was (thankfully) okay and not hurt.

Anyways, we snapped a picture of the "trashed" gator -- {I think it was still new!} and embarrassing moment or not, I went ahead and scrapped it! Some memories just have to be shown and talked about -- especially the really funny ones!!!!!! LOL

Starting on the Christmas Cards

I've been wanting to get started on making Christmas cards, but I ran out of plain greens, reds and blues!!! Last week I got a package in the mail -- which included shades of green papers. That was sweet! :)

I borrowed some Christmas Stamp Up! stamps from a friend, and set to work....

I embossed the stamped image, and added some bling to make it stand out more. Used my favourite fiskar fancy edge scissors -- the scallop -- to create a border. The icicle border I used on the bottom of my card has been in my stash forever. I just couldn't make myself use it...until now. I just love that border punch!!! Finally I added some ribbon from my stash and some light green pearls in the corners. There's lots of layering and I love it! :)

One down...so many more to go. But at least now I know what works... TFL. :)

When Sketches Work

I have a folder on my computer with sketches for layouts that I want to try. When I run out of ideas of my own, I head to the folder to see if I can be inspired. I've had this certain sketch that I absolutely love -- but it just never fit with any of the photos I was scrapping.

I wanted to scrap a postcard from a trip to South Dakota way back in 2004. As I was browsing through my folder, I found this sketch...and immediately knew it would work. It's simple, but I love it! :)

I borrowed a Martha Stewart border punch, and used a Fiskar border punch as well. Added a new ribbon from a recent RAK win, and the layout was complete. I love it!!! TFL

Shaker Card

I've seen these cards all over the blogs -- and I was always so impressed. Impressed -- but not quite inspired enough to try one for myself. I always figured they were complicated to make.

Last week the card I was challenged to lift, happened to be a shaker card! So I guess you could say I had my work cut out for myself! :) After a whole week of procrastinating -- mostly 'cause I could not come up with anything, I sat down on Saturday and just decided to go for it -- whatever happens, happens. lol

It was fun once I figured out what I was doing. Plus, I'd been wanting to use my caffeine clear stamp set already, and this was a perfect excuse! Being a coffee lover myself, I couldn't think of anything better to put into the shaker than actual coffee grinds!!! LOL My card even SMELLS like coffee!!!

It definitely turned out better than I had anticipated. :) TFL.

I've been working on this scrapbook page for like months. I had a basic idea of what I wanted to create, but it kept changing every time I sat down and worked on it! Which led to frustration of course!!!! :( So many times I simply put everything back onto the shelf...and waiting for the inspiration and ideas to come back!!! But it finally came together yesterday.

I found the journaling online a few years ago when I researched the meaning of my name...and although so much of it doesn't actually fit (LOL) -- some of it does work! And those name cards are always interesting -- so I figured why not use it! :)

The letters are made of wood -- originally they were all different colours, so I had to paint them.

So yeah!!! I've FINALLY finished the title page for one of my scrapbooks!!! :) The first page has been empty -- waiting for this page.

This is my latest card for a card lifting group I joined. Honestly I didn't know exactly what I was signing up for -- I just thought lifting cards was something I've done before...so why not! I love getting inspiration from other people! There's always something new to learn! And a new technique I can try out.

But I've kind of given the whole lifting idea a twist of my own. I take out my scrap box, and then try to come up with a card using my scraps!!! Using scraps is in itself a challenge for me, but it keeps my cards interesting! And I love adding a twist to a project -- makes it all my own!

Hiya bloggers! I know -- it's been over two weeks since I updated my blog!!! But I just could not sign in!!! Does anyone else ever have this problem??? It's happened to me a few times in the past...and there is nothing I can do to change it! I simply have to wait it out...and in time everything goes back to normal! One of my biggest challenges when it comes to scrapping is cleaning up the scraps. I love cutting into new papers, but when it comes to working with the left-overs I'm often stumped! So when I see a card or an idea for using up scraps, I more than likely will try it! :)

Shades of Blue

Do you have a favourite colour when crafting??? Honestly I love purple...but if you'd look through my scrapbooks you would never know it! LOL Instead the blues will pop out! I'm always short on shades of blue papers. :)

Which gets me to my latest creation -- my latest Shades of Blue page.

I've been wanting to create a layout with photos from this family vacation way back in 2000 for like forever! I've had them all lined up in a photo album...but it's not the same as a scrapbook layout. But sometimes I just can't make myself cut up photos!!! LOL Or maybe it just takes some time for the idea to grow...

But I finally decided to go for it! In fact, the first photo I cut up, I went like really fancy! :) The photo was taken looking through a railing...giving it a unique shape...which I figured would look interesting, especially when outlined by borders. I used my Fiskar "In Stitches" border punch to outline the photo as well...and just loved the look! From that moment on, cutting the rest of the photos I wanted to use in the layout was easy! :) No, I don't have 4x6 photos anymore, but the layout looks great! :)

I added some big "family" rubons I've had in my stash just waiting for this layout. Don't rubons rock!!! I love them -- especially when they're like phrases and stuff! It's so awesome to simply rub on the message/quote rather than writing or printing it out.

A Blessing For You

It's been such a busy/crazy two weeks for me...and the work just isn't slowing down. Which means the time I have to craft most certainly is! :( But I'm still managing to get a few minutes in my scrap room from time to time. :)

I was determined to get my "card lifting" project finished before tomorrow...and yes, after about two hours I came up with something I could live with. Honestly sometimes a card that seems to have such an easy layout turns into such a challenge to lift!!! I had the basic idea of what I was trying to create from the beginning, but when I sat down to actually DO IT, it was frustrating!

I cut out all the layers, and then fell blank!!! I went on the computer to try to come up with a verse or image to put into the center of my frame, when I came across some word art I was working on last week. I love this particular verse -- it's just perfect for any occasion! I added the butterfly image...and coloured it all green to match with my purple/green card. But when I added it to the card, I sat there thinking, "This card is soooooooooooo flat! It's sooooooooo boring!!!"

I looked around my scrap table...and saw some pre-made daisy flowers. I added one to the corner just to see what it would look like...and loved it! :) I also used up some bling from my stash for the flower "leaves" and added some greeen peals to make the corners just a little more interesting! :)

It's definitely not the fanciest card I've ever made, but it's growing on me. :) All it takes is some imagination...and you never know where you'll end up! :)

Stairs Card

I tend to stick to the basic fold-once type of card, although I have tried a few fancy fold cards in the past. My favourite is the triange-tri-fold card...i've made so many of those -- they're so cute and perfect for little note cards. :)

I was met with a challenge last Monday when the card to lift in the fiskateer gallery happened to be a split-step-card. Talk about being lost!!! I googled it (love that feature!!! LOL) and came up with instructions for how to do the folding and the measurements. I set out to follow the steps -- and ended up with a 6-plus inch card!!!!!!!! NOT a good thing!!! I didn't even try to embellish the card, 'cause I knew it would be a hopeless cause!!! I ended up giving up all together!!!

I knew I had to create some type of card for the challenge though, so today I attempted the split-step-card again. I sat down and tried coming up with my own measurements -- making the card about 4 inches square. I think the purple paper I started working with helped too, 'cause I loved the paper, so I WANTED the card to turn out! LOL

I added layers to the card, and then embellished it with flowers from my stash.

I didn't really like the card's lop-sided look. I wanted to make it look like a square card look. I came up with an idea of adding a little tag to the top "stair". I also thought it would be great if the message you write in the card isn't on display. With my tag idea, you can still display the card, but you have to take the tag off to read the message. :)

When it's fully assembled, it looks like this. :) I love how it turned out! This may be the start of something...

Clever Cat

My cat Pumpkin had a litter of kittens about two months ago. We weren't home the night they were born -- only realizing the next morning that she was no longer pregnant. And she was wandering around the house...totally NOT worried about kittens!!! Let's just say, I was going crazy!!! I searched for hours...turned the house upside down -- top to bottom -- searched outside as well, but couldn't find a sign of them!!! Finally after about 3 hours of searching, my youngest sister finally found them -- in a barrel of wool!!!!!!!!!

I snapped a few photos thinking they were perfect scrapbooking material. And of course the photo's been lying on my pile 'cause I had no idea of a layout!

Then last week, as I was browsing through the fiskateer gallery, I saw a layout that had journaling written on lined black paper. I loved the look! And I remembered that I had a whole notebook of similar looking paper lying around (and since you can only use a silver gel pen to write it in, it's pretty useless) That is, until I decided to try incorporating it into a layout or two myself. :)

Or course, I had to use my new fiskar 'in stitches' punch as well -- i love that look!!! Added some Material Girl papers as well...and finally topped the page off with lots of rub-ons. It turned out a lot better than I thought it would -- pretty cool, if I do say so myself! :) LOL

Can you believe there are actually 6 kittens in the photo -- they're so camouflaged you can hardly see!!! TFL

WHEW!!! That's a lot of fiskateers!!!! :)

As you might have noticed, everyone is into orange today! It is after all the official colour of the fiskateer world...and we're all into sharing our passion for crafting...so we thought, "Why not combine the two!"

I made this card for the occasion. Orange is usually not one of my stronger colours to work with -- I always find it a challenge to come up with something (I like) when orange is involved. But this card came together nicely! And the more I look at it, the more I like it! :)

Since this is a fiskateer blog hop, I tried using as many fiskar items on my card as possible. I started off with using a new (for me) fiskar border punch along the sides...

Then I dry embossed a little with the fiskar shape boss...

And finally I punched two daisies with my large fiskar daisy punch, and stacked them up to give a little 3D effect. :)

So there you have the breakdown of my card. :) I love working with fiskar products -- they're awesome!

Working with Combos

You know sometimes when you know two colours look great together, but when you try creating something you begin to doubt? LOL That was me working with this layout. One of my biggest problems when I scrap is colour combinations. Do they work??? does it look good??? should I change it up???

I've made a lot of cards with brown and pink, and they always look good. I love working with that combination -- so I tried taking it to my layouts. I wasn't impressed with my paper choice here in the beginning -- even tried changing the brown paper for some other shade of pink, but then decided that that would defeat the purpose! So I went back it what I had originally planned on using. It wasn't until I added the deep brown ribbon that I saw how good it all looked...but now I'm hooked! I have a pile of similar ribbon from our sewing stash all ready to be added to my future layouts! I love this look!!! :)

I also used my new fiskar border punch. :) It's called "in stitches" and I thought it would fit very good with the pink paper. (the punched border is around the photo mattting). I'm gonna have fun with that one for sure! :) TFL

Material Girl

I've joined a card lifting group on Fiskateers. Once a week, we get a card to lift. It's interesting -- the two cards that have been chosen to lift are definitely not my type. So although it's fun, it's also making me go out of my comfort zone, as far as card making goes, and try new things. But that's kind of why I joined the group in the first place -- you get inspiration and you try to use your imagination and creativity as much as possible, so your card doesn't look like an exact replicate of the card we are lifting.

So anyway, here's one I made today. It's pretty simple (but then so was the card we lifted! LOL) but it actually did take me quite a long time to come up with anything! In fact, I had to try a second time, 'cause I wasn't impressed with my first version I came up with.

They're looking for Material added to a card -- I think the lace here counts! :) I won this lace at Reasonable Ribbon Ramblings awhile back, and have been trying to come up with ideas of how to use it on a card or layout. Creative Edges

A friend of mine recently lost her brother in a tragic accident. I've been trying to come up with a card idea to make a sympathy card, but everytime I sit down at my craft table I'm stumped!!! I tried a few different ideas -- tried working with some "thinking of you" card ideas I've created in the past, but they never seemed good enough. Then I saw a few cards in the fiskateer gallery with some amazing sympathy messages on the front, and I was inspired to try out that idea.

Here's what I finally came up with:

I've worked with fiskars fancy edged scissors and used them on my cards in the past, but recently I moved on to other techniques. It was fun to come back to this look -- I love it -- and no matter how many or how few layers you add to the card, it always looks good!!! :)

It's been such a busy week so far around here -- I haven't had a minute to sit down and craft! Too many other projects happening!!! Hopefully I'll get around to making a few somethings today! I'm participating in a Fiskateer blog hop on Sept 10-11...and I have to get my projects made already!!! I also joined a liftateer group...and I need to get my card for that created before the weekend!!! So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some free time will appear in my busy schedule...hopefully today yet!!!

This is the first two page layout I made of our blue berry picking trip this summer. I still want to find a few embellishments that having something to do with blueberries (if possible) to add all over the pages. But for now, this is as good as it gets. :)

This layout was so much fun to make! The photos themselves are awesome -- totally hilarious! :) It's pouring rain, but one determined guy sets out to build a campfire anyways! You gotta love those moments -- especially when you manage to catch them on film. :)

This is actually an original sketch -- kind of an amazing accomplishment -- especially when it comes to working with circles on layouts. It's complicated...because I love the circles look, but I still find it hard to come up with a layout I like when I try using them. This one just happened...and I LOVE IT! :) I think it's also the colours...it all works together so well. TFL.

No Embellies

I"m all into scrappin' again! :) I love it when my layouts finally come together -- without too much stress and time spent on them! :) Not to mention my pile of photos on the "to scrap" pile is finally getting thinner! That's always a good thing, eh???

Here is my first layout of our blueberry picking / camping trip we had last month. I lifted a layout from the gallery at Fiskateers (they had a online crop all about lifting layouts and cards from the gallery). LOL -- the layout turned out soooo different than what I had originally set out to create, but I absolutely LOVE it!

The checkered paper is from the Creative Memories line, but the rest is just stuff from my stash. I know the page is a little on the simple side, but I love that style. Somehow some layouts don't need any embellishments to make it look good! :) I did lift the title to give it a 3-D effect (which you can't really see from the angel I took the picture from), but it's still there. :) Simplicity works -- why mess with it! :)

Better Late Than Never

Fiskateers had an online crop last week. There were over 20 challenges...but it was such a busy time for me, I didn't get all the ones done that I wanted to. One of the challenges was to close your eyes, pick a paper from your stash, and then create two cards with it. Sounds...interesting. LOL I did make the two cards, but unfortunately I was too late to participate in the crop -- time ran out! Bummer, eh? But on the bright side...now I have two fabulous cards to give away! So, no worries! :) And I get to show them off to all you great people as well. LOL

I've been scrapping a lot with the Fiskars Sunburst border punch. I saw a lot of people were creating cards using multiple borders...stacked up. It gives such a great effect -- and I just love it! These two cards showcase two different effects you can get -- I'm not sure which one I like better, as they both look great! :)

I also borrowed the small butterfly punch from a friend...and although they are tiny...any butterfly helps make a card look great! LOL I just loooooove butterflies -- any size! :)

I've loved working with a friend's sunburst border punch. My cards are being created so fast -- and I'm having them pile up already -- but I'm lovin' it!!! :)

Here is one of my latest cards. :) I definitely need to get some border punches of my own (like 3 or 4!!!). LOL

I dry embossed the plain white background of the card to give it a little something extra. I love the effects it gives. I've tried adding some new embossing images -- this time it's a daisy -- working with the theme. Trying new things...just to keep myself from being bored! LOL

Well, I'm back with another layout. Someone said to me last week -- "I don't like scrap booking! Card-making is so much simpler." It may be "simpler" to some people, but for me...sometimes making a card is just as challenging as coming up with a layout! For me, it varies. Ask me which I like better, and I'll probably say scrapbooking one week and then card making the next! LOL

So, anyways...here's another layout I created on the weekend.

The online crop at Fiskateers.com had me all inspired -- not to mention working with my camping photos again. This layout especially was a blast to create! It came together sooooo fast -- I think it was the papers! LOL I've been saving this patterned paper for awhile...just couldn't bring myself to use it. But I pulled it out and decided it was time...and I love it! :) TFL

Fun in the Sun

I been wanting to scrap some pictures from a trip a small group of us went on in the summer of 2006, but I thought I'd lost them all when our computer crashed about a year ago...and with it went many of my photos. Then a few days ago, I was sorting through some photos on my friend's computer, when I came across the trip pictures!!! Apparently I had given them to her as well...and totally forgot about it!!! But man was I impressed!!! :) I printed about 50+ of them right away...and now I'm having a blast scrapping some layouts!!! :)

Here's the first one I made.

We had a two day online crop at Fiskateers.com and one of the challenges was to lift a layout from the gallery. This layout was my lift. I had such a blast -- but then my excitement over finding the photos at all just makes it all the more fun!!! LOL :) TFL.

A New Look

A few scrapper friends and I went to see a lady who's been a distributor for Creative Memories scrapping products. Honestly, I wasn't too impressed with the line -- my #1 reason being that the papers are a strange size -- 10 x 12 instead of the common 12 x 12 (which is the size I scrap). So if I really liked a certain paper, I had to take at least two sheets, just so I could create a 12 x 12 paper!!! But I ended up bying quite a lot of papers, simply because right now I haven't been able to get to the city...and I have so many photos waiting to be scrapped!!!!

While we were there, we asked to look at a scrapbook she had made -- just for ideas. I love looking at other people's books -- it's amazing how many different styles are out there! And while I may not love the style, there are always little things you can learn or take from the different styles. :) So anyways, this lady did a lot with border designs. It was the first time I had ever seen these -- and I liked it! She had a few paper sets (apparently the border designs are pre-cut)...and I bought one.

This is the first layout I've put together using the papers. This is a pretty simple one -- and yes, she did have more than plain papers, but for this layout I wanted it pretty basic. I absolutely love the border design on the outsides -- it makes the page leap out! I may have seen these pages so often...but everytime I page though my album...I stop and take a second look!!! LOL I guess that says something...

The letters are also from the Creative Memories line. They're great to work with -- not too sticky...and if you place it wrong, you can take it off and set it right...without tearing up your layout! That's the best thing I've seen from this line -- if I ever have another chance, I'd buy more letters...they rock!!! :)

I still want to add some journaling -- in the center of the second page. :) TFL

Fancy Edges

Dry embossing just adds a little extra flair to a card -- somehow I find myself reaching for the Fiskars ShapeBoss before any stamps. That's probably a shocker to many of you out there -- especially since stamping and colouring is such a big part of card making. But I like the other means and ideas too. And dry embossing -- there's so much you can do with it!! :)

This card is pretty basic (kind of my style), but I love the tulip embossing in the background! It's the first time I've attempted to use these shapes, and I'm loving the look!!!

I've noticed a lot of cards out there have layers of punched borders --- and I've always loved it! I just never got around to actually trying it. So I guess this card is me trying a few new ideas -- and I'm so happy with how it turned out! :) TFL

A Softer Side

I was going through the challenge blogs I follow when I came across the CRAFT Challenge -- Babies/Children. I've been meaning to make some more baby cards for the past week now, but things have been either too hectic...or I just didn't find any mojo!

Today I decided enough is enough! I absolutely need a few baby cards made -- and I wasn't giving up until I came up with something!!!

The last set of baby cards I made featured a baby wagon I put together myself. I absolutely love that little wagon! So I made a couple cards basically the same as last time.

My sister found an absolutely awesome stampin' up babies theme rubber stamp set at a garage sale a few months ago...and I've been meaning to use it forever! I made a few cards with the set -- and I absolutely LOVE THEM!!! I love working with inks and embossing powders -- somehow they make the cards seem more perfessional...or maybe I'm just paranoid!!! LOL

Anyways, here are a few cards I created with the set. (I think the colour combo alone makes me love these cards...and add the sentiment...and they are just awesome!!!!!!!) :) TFL

I've rediscovered my love for extra-wide ribbons! :)

A Splash of Red

If there's one colour I don't scrap or use a whole lot it's red. Somehow the truly bold colours aren't my thing -- and they tend to be left behind in my stash. I've had this checkered ribbon lying around for a long time now...not to mention a whole pack of red raindrops -- just waiting for the chance to be used and seen. But instead I reached for the other colours.

Then I ran out of plain pink(s) cardstock...

I had already dry embossed the flowers on the left-side...and I'd pasted on the pinkish background paper, so I was kind of stuck! Just for kicks I reached for the red checkered ribbon -- and realized it looked great! Add some red paper highlights, some red embossing powder...and finally open the red dew drops and wah-lah!!! A red card I didn't know I had in me to create!!! LOL

I guess sometimes bold and flashy isn't such a bad thing -- and I can even say in all honesty -- I like it! :) TFL

Butterfly Bliss

I've been loving adding my butterflies to my cards -- now all I need to find are some awesome butterfly stamps or punches....to save time when I want them added to my projects. But for now, I'm happy with the ones I print and then cut out by hand -- they work...and they look good as well. :)

I absolutely LOVE the Material Girl line from Cosmo Girl. :) This layout is a lift I did of a layout I saw online...not sure where I found it exactly. I had had the picture lying around for months now...but sometime it's hard to find layout I like with only one photo. I borrowed some Fiskar crafting items from a friend...and fell in love with the corner punch -- this particular one punches and embosses at the same time!!! The rest of the layout came together fairly quickly. :) I also decided to try some faux stitching along the edges of the papers -- and I love it! It just gives the page a little something extra!! :) TFL

I've had these photos on my camera for the last few weeks. Last time my bff's baby girl came to visit, I let her raid one of our cupboards -- apparently tea is her thing!!! She had a blast -- and I got some cute pictures! :)

I won these papers on a blog somewhere -- not sure exactly where...as I won a lot that month! LOL :) But I do know the paper is My Mind's Ey. I love absolutely everything about this line!!!! Love the fact that the edge of the paper wasn't straight -- that'll give my scrapbook another bit of diversity! :) TFL

Blooming Beauties

I was going through the pictures I have to scrap on the computer when I came across the file containing pictures I'd taken of the greenhouse in full bloom. Definitely scrap-worthy!!! :) By the time I had selected all the flowers I wanted to showcase I had a two page display!!! But that's ok! They're all too gorgeous not to be seen...and what better way to show off the blooms than in a scrapbook!!! :) My mom and I had a blast with these flowers -- although she did like 90% of the work -- I did help!!! Transplanting, watering, etc. It's a busy time of the year, but I love it! Just hanging out in the greenhouse during those cold winter days makes spring seem so much closer!! And who can resist these gorgeous blooms!!!

I was gonna add some embellishments, but by the time I had all the photos lined up, there wasn't much room for anything else! But the flowers are so bright and cheerful -- the pages really don't need anything!

I absolutely love the big top photo! :)

The only little bit of "extra" I added to the page...lifted the title to make it 2D.

Working With a Kit

I won the new Cosmo Cricket Material Girl line last month, and I've been itching to use it! I've never worked with a kit before -- bought one once and then used it for cards, not scrapbooking. So this was totally different for me. Honestly, I think I'd rather buy papers and embellishments separately -- kits are definitely not my thing! There's too much stuff that I don't really like in them...

But here's what I came up with.

I used a few papers from my stash...and the rub-ons weren't a part of the kit either. But I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. It was the first time I used cardboard embellishments. Let's just say this layout was definitely interesting as far as creating goes. TFL :)
